Wow! GL's ratings are awful! I guess it's just reflecting the show right now. I tried watching today and I had to turn the channel. I remember once I use to love GL. Such and shame.

Phoenix, I guess I'm not explaining my point well. I'll try again. What I'm saying is that there are many people who 'hang in there' with the show just because Deidre Hall is part of the cast. Without "their Marlena", Days would just not be Days. Some of these people have watched since the 70's when she joined the cast, and many are much younger and have started more recently. But all have in common that they think they're watching her show, even if she's not on the air that much. I think that if these people leave (and I think many will), it will make an impact. That's what I'm trying to say.

Regarding 1991 - that was an increase because of Deidre, then a dropoff in viewership because of the writing. (There was a backstage interview at one point with Deidre and Wayne where this was discussed, that they knew the writing in 91 was not what the viewers wanted to see.) You're kind of implying that the "new Deidre viewers" left, while I'm seeing 91 as new viewers coming aboard for her, followed soon by what would have happened anyway - a drop because of the story, leaving them back where they started. Here, it's going to be (imo) a decrease because of Deidre's leaving, and then (perhaps) a further decrease because of the writing! In other words - it's not going to level out like it did then. It's going to go down even further.

To put what I'm trying to say another way - I read a post on SC which was actually very poignant, which said that someone viewed Days as a connection to her mother who had passed away, and now she felt that that connection is gone. I think there's a lot of that sentiment going on right now, and I think the ratings will reflect that.

^Ellie, I get what your saying. My grandmother was that way too with Doug, Julie, etc and she threatened to quit watching in the 80's and never did. I guess she just never had anything else to fill the hour with.

I guess what I'm saying is people are hurting right now and, once things calm down, we will see the true extent of this. When people are hurting and frustrated, they say things in the heat of the moment and, while I don't think many D&D fans will feel this way, I think some others might feel differently once the idea sinks in. Right now, many are just in shock and I think the worry that other big names might go too has made this even worse. I think the true extent of this won't be known until the dust settles and all the cuts have been made and wee what Days is like and how it ends up without the people they choose to cut.

I do see what your saying though. Dee had a very deep connection with many fans so it doesn't surprise to hear that.

^ Ok thanks! I guess we will see what happens and discuss it then. Don't worry - though my Days addiction is over after they leave, my DR addiction will still be there, lol.

OLTL being worth watching is a matter of opinion! LOL. Y&R, I agree with.

I agree with King. I don't find OLTL all that watchable. What's this crap of Rex considering dropping charges against Brody for shooting him? That's a bunch of nonesensical BULLSHIT!!!! Starr comes off as blase about the death of her baby. Marty and Todd's showdown at the hospital should have been way more intense, IMHO. Susan Haskell was fine but Trevor St. John's acting was flatter than a damm pancake. Furthermore, what is this bullshit of Jessica having yet another personality named Bess. Were those horn rimmed glasses that Bree Williamson were wearing the same ones that Jacquie Courtney use to wear as Maggie Ashley back in the early 1980s?! Bree Williamson isn't fit to step on the same soundstage where La Courtney use to reign supreme, let alone wear any of her old costumes. OLTL isn't watchable by a long shot. Period. End Of Story.

Well, like King said, it's a matter of opinion. Period. End of story.

Yeah, OLTL really needs to let the multiple personalities go already. It really is beyond time.

OLTL has been awesome this sweeps. They really brought it home and I think ratings will be even higher for this week.

The thing about OLTL is that alot is going on and that makes it good. It's just like May and June when alot of stuff was coming to a head only the stories back then were much better IMO and not campy, over the top, or offensive. However, Ron's problem is he has nothing after it's over. He puts all his story eggs into one or two weeks and then has to build up things again for a few months. That is why they can't maintain their surges and that is why things become very dry and draggy.

Personally, I'm enjoying the fallout this week much more then last. The pacing last week was a bit off. Susan Haskell has been brilliant and so has the fallout but it's still not worth what they did with Todd and Marty. No way.

OLTL deserves good numbers for last week and this week but it won't last. Y&R, on the other hand, is far more consistent and I bet they will have good stuff to follow their big two weeks. If Ron can ever fix that issue, then I think OLTL would be much better off.

I find that OLTL is good even when there's not a lot going on. It's all in the day to day writing.

I don't really like their day to day writing. It seems too generic at times.

I don't know. I think maybe I should stop watching Y&R and then OLTL LOL.

Congrats to OLTL. They've been amazing for sweeps. Such wonderful writing. I'm loving the fall out. I even found my mom watching OLTL yesterday and she's never been a fan of ABC soaps.

I actually find it disjointed at times bc some days the show is really good, and some days it's just blah, and it's basically due to the weaknesses and strengths of that day's script writer. Like one day will be written by Aida Croal, and the episode will move certain stories along, however the next day that flow is stopped dead in its tracks if the episode written by someone like Fran Myers or Michelle Poteet Lisanti who are the weakest links of the writing team.

I'am really sorry to hear the bad news . . . but not at all surpised! the way they break-up couples and give storylines that leave you wondering who in the hell is in charge?! I have watceh this soap for more years than I want to count and to see it in this condition is truley sad! :frown: :'(
